A hero’s work is never done. “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” is preparing for yet another epic battle this week as the show’s producers face off against former show director Julie Taymor (who also co-created the show and wrote its book) in closed-door arbitration hearings. Taymor was fired from the show last March and is asking, through her union, for royalties totaling $500,000. Show producers Michael Cohl and Jeremiah J. Harris do not believe she is owed anything. The $75 million musical — the most expensive in Broadway history — has become one of its highest-grossing shows, regularly taking in over a million dollars a week. Due to its high running costs, though, profits have been “relatively minimal,” according to Patrick Healy’s article on the New York Times’s ArtsBeat blog, where you can read more about the case.
